A Fitter Welder will iIdentify suitable materials, processes and workflows, and machine settings.

Assembles prefabricated metal parts and assemble metal parts to manufacture machinery and equipment.

Check parts for accuracy, clearance and fit.

Adjust guides, stops and other controls on processing tools, adjust prescribed cutting and forming tools and dies in machines and presses, and adjust controls on textile machines.

Forms metal billets and castings for metal stamping, cutting, grinding, planing, drilling and drilling.

Cut, thread, bend and install hydraulic and pneumatic hose and tubing.

Operation and maintenance of machinery, parts and fluid power equipment.

Will erect machines and equipment.

Qualifications / Skills

  • Capable of receiving and following instructions and communicating with co-workers
  • Able to read and adhere to labels, safety warnings, and guidelines
  • Attentive to detail and always alert to ensure safety

Experience

  • • 4 years of experience as a welder fitter
  • Must either have a welder fitter qualification and/or a minimum of 4 years’ experience as a welder fitter

Fitter Welder Job Responsibilities:

  • Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated, cast, and forged components to assemble structural forms, such as machinery frames, tanks, pressure vessels, furnace shells, and building and bridge parts, according to blueprints and knowledge of welding and metallurgy: Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
  • Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
  • Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
  • May assemble parts by bolting and riveting.
  • May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torch, straightening press, and handtools, and be designated Welder, Structural Repair.
  • May specialize in using one welding process and be designated Welder-Fitter, Arc; Welder-Fitter, Gas.
  • May specialize in fitting and welding components of metal tools, dies, and fixtures and be designated Welder, Tool & Die.

MIG WELDER

Description: Current welding certifications (Recently expired certifications may be acceptable contingent upon the ability to successfully requalify prior to employment.) Must either have a welder qualification and/or a minimum of 4 years’ experience as a welder.

Overview:

  • Expertly welds small, medium, and large bore pipe of various metals and alloys.

  • Solders and brazes of copper pipe.

  • Performs complex mechanical installations per engineering direction.

  • Reads and comprehends construction drawings and specifications.

  • Lays out and installs piping, equipment, and other mechanical systems in compliance with construction drawings and specifications.

  • Marks up construction drawings and specifications with as-built status.

  • Works with Thermal Systems Engineers and Site Construction Manager to order tools, equipment, supplies, and materials necessary for the group’s job requirements following company policy and process.

  • Works in conjunction with other crews and lead persons.

  • Maintains responsibility for all tools and equipment assigned to the group.
